Just Yoga Nidra, no more, no less. Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique in which you learn to relax consciously. It is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. The term yoga nidra is derived from two Sanskrit words, yoga meaning union or one-pointed awareness, and nidra which means sleep. During the practice of yoga nidra, you appear to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. For this reason, yoga nidra is often referred to as psychic sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness. In this threshold state between sleep and wakefulness, contact with the subconscious and unconscious dimensions occurs spontaneously. In yoga nidra, the state of relaxation is reached by turning inwards, away from outer experiences. If the consciousness can be separated from external awareness and from sleep, it becomes very powerful and can be applied in many ways, for example, to develop the memory, increase knowledge and creativity, or transform one's nature. Join me in the beautiful Yoga Tree Studio for a monthly guided conscious relaxation experience by candlelight. NB: all props such as mat, blanket/s, cushions, bolsters, eye pillows must be brought to practice as no equipment will be supplied. Join Ivana for a weekly, early evening practice in the supportive and nurturing space of the Yoga Tree studio. Exploring and returning to a sattvic state (equanimity, calm & balance) in a breath led practice with a focus on encouraging attention and ease. Class begins with slow mindful flow and then transitions into a Yin/ Restorative practice with longer, more restorative holds. Finding the space of effortless awareness by surrendering in these passive poses; in which your body can remember it's innate state and learn to rest in the state of Being rather than doing and becoming. Asana practice is accompanied with Mantra,Pranayama (breathing techniques) and finished with Savasana ,Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) or Meditation. All depending on the theme... Open to all levels, no previous yoga experience is necessary as alternatives and modifications will be offered to suit everyone. Ensure your mat: Booking essential ↵. Restorative Special 27th December 5-6.30p.m Mantra - Movement - Yoga Nidra - effortless call to remember ease, to rest... In this festive special class we will be stretching and resting the body and mind in a luxurious restorative way. Props are used to support the body so poses can be held longer, allowing the body to open through passive stretching. The postures are usually adapted from supine or seated yoga poses, and their shapes are modified to your individual self with blocks, bolsters and blankets to eliminate unnecessary muscular effort. We will be holding each restorative yoga pose for a few minutes, even as long as 10 minutes. It is an active form of relaxation. Specific body parts are alternately relaxed and stimulated, moving the body back to its natural balanced state. Some poses will have an overall positive effect on the body's systems, while others target a specific part, such as the chest or spine. Restorative yoga practice is a journey inwards. Soothing, comforting, relaxing and renewing. It is excellent for reducing chronic stress, anxiety and exhaustion. In this class Mantras will be used. Mantras are like Asanas (physical postures) for the mind. They give plasticity and adaptability to the mind, soften and awaken the heart. As the asana controls the body and pranayama controls the breath, so the mantra controls the mind. They balance and harmonize the energies in daily life. Practice is followed by deep guided relaxation called Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep). For this practice you will have to bring your mat, blanket or two, cushion and bolster (big pillow fold in half will do the trick too) Join Ivana for this practice and learn how to support Yourself by the nurturing power of rest and healing rhythm of stillness. Laurence is registered as a Senior Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals. His journey in Yoga was almost accidental. It all started on a trip to India with some friends who wanted to go and try out a yoga class. Laurence was initially not so keen on the idea but luckily for him he let them talk him into going. All it took was just those two hours of bending, stretching, and breathing on a wicker mat crawling with ants with some crazy Indian guy (who would become his first teacher), and bam. He was in love with the practice. He had for the first time in his life tapped into something special, the present moment. He had immediately noticed a change in his awareness of the world and he wanted more. This physical experience that he had found on the yoga mat was a perfect match for the study of eastern religious philosophy that he had done at university, and it wasn't very long before he was a dedicated yogi on a mission to learn all he that he could about this ancient mystical practice. 07931076759 firstname.lastname@example.org laurencefm.co.uk/
Lee's fascination and relentless passion for movement & bodies has led him to work alongside a diverse range of people from all walks of life. His career first began as an international photographer where he soon started noticing common patterns and behaviours. He realised that perhaps a lot of the tensions, stresses, anxieties and complaints are somehow related to living in our fast paced modern society. Lee embarked on 3 years of training with the British Academy of Rolfing®, where he graduated in 2014 as a certified Rolfer. Whilst training and practicing Rolfing® Lee found his speciality in Rolfing Movement. This inspired him to continue training, this time in Munich over the space of a year with the European Rolfing Association. He graduated as a certified Rolf® movement practitioner in 2016. Rolfing® is a highly effective method of working with people and their bodies. Involving hands on tissue work, looking at where we are, how we move and exploring movement re-education. Working towards undoing, letting go and changing old patterns. Developing self-awareness and improving well being when there is tension, pain, loss of flexibility or mobility. Marie, all the way from the North of Scotland originally, is now here in Norwich sharing yoga with us at The Yoga Tree. She teaches group yoga classes and tailored 1-1's on request. Marie's classes are about reconnecting with mind and body, clearing physical and mental space and returning home. In Marie's classes, this might look like movement, it might be found through stillness, it might be felt through breath or it may see all of those things come together in one practice. She specialises in the movement disciplines of Vinyasa & Yin yoga. Her love for the fluid and free form of Vinyasa she teaches stems from her background in Contemporary Theatre and her passion to explore movement. Her approach is dynamic and creative and she enjoys exploring new ways to move with creative sequences. Her love for Yin stems from learning herself the need to slow down and work with the nervous system and the release of deeper rooted tensions held within the body and she is passionate about this in her approach. Creating an environment for people to balance their busy, fast-paced, demanding lives with an opportunity to reset, restore and release. In 2021 she will continue her journey, beginning a two year Yoga Therapy diploma. It is Marie's deepest passion to offer yoga to both groups and individuals therapeutically, as a tool to heal and manage our lives, troubles and traumas. Teaching all over the world for nearly 4 years now, Yoga for Rich is all about union and non-duality He got into the practice when he realised that his body and his mind were often in different places, as much as his thoughts and his feelings of happiness were too. Yoga philosophy gave Rich the space to live in a more truthful way, in union with his beliefs and ideas of life and existence. Also with more peace and acceptance of self. Living by the heart became a daily practice as well as grounding and finding space, physically and emotionally. His Vinyasa classes are both dynamic and relaxing. He introduces a modern approach to yoga whilst fully embracing tradition and its beautiful philosophy. The Yin classes are super super chilled; deep longer-hold postures all on the floor, laying or sitting down. Always taught, from the heart, with beautiful music and philosophical topics. He's a true believer that yoga is for everyone. We just have to give it a try! When he's not teaching, he's usually writing, playing the guitar and having a sing song, or finding a beach somewhere to be near the water. Rosie had a fitness mentor who inspired and encouraged her to train with the Future Fit School of Pilates. Having suffered with a creaky back for years, she found that Pilates strengthened her back and core like no other sport she had tried. She has been delighted with the progress some of her clients have made, in short periods of time, with their balance, posture, core strength, body awareness and confidence. She likes to fly in the face of convention and try new things and would encourage everyone to try Pilates as their new thing as the benefits are clear soon after starting. Her classes are inclusive, mixed ability, gentle but concentrated exercise. For the gardeners, the carers, those with sore backs, knees, hips, shoulders... you get the idea! Tess teaches a Hatha/Vinyasa inspired flow with a sprinkling of Yin and Surf inspired sequences. She teaches spontaneously from the heart with a playful whimsical style and encourages openess and laughter. Her classes suit all, but best make contact to check if you are a complete beginner. "I like to follow the Sun with my practise and this often comes into my classroom teachings..... At the Zenith of the year at the Summer Solstice I have a very strong Yang style going on and then, as the year progresses towards the Equinox's I find I start introducing more softer, Yin style holds, so when the Winter Solstice comes around my last class before Christmas is a deliciously sweet, candle lit Yin only practise, then, we head into the light from there again, and travel with the sun towards summer, its a natural thing." Being a Surfer and Motorcycle Racer, Tess has a keen interest in Yoga for sport, she teaches Norwich United FC with winning results and various runners, cyclists, rowers and riders.
